Coffee and the World's First Webcam
Oh, Coffee. Will you ever stop inspiring humankind to ever-greater technological achievement?
The first webcam was installed at Cambridge University in 1991. Researchers working in the computer lab wanted to avoid walking all the way to the coffee room only to find an empty coffeepot, so they developed a camera, connected first to their local network and later to the internet, which provided a live picture of the coffeepot on the user's computer.
Way to go, Coffee.
